Explore the Impressionist approach to color and light developed through the Cape School of Art. This one day plein air workshop will include an introductory talk and demonstrations on the painting of light. In the morning Lee will paint a simple arrangement of colored blocks outdoors and explain how he uses a palette of colors corresponding to the natural spectrum of light to capture the effects of light on different colors in the sunlight and shadow.  In the afternoon he will demonstrate how he applies this knowledge of color and light to the painting of the landscape.  Students will then have an opportunity to apply this knowledge themselves with Lee’s assistance.
