Robert was born in Maggie Valley, NC. and began his early art work using scrap paper and pieces of coal because there was no money for art. He developed as an artists watching artist on TV, reading books, visiting museums in Europe as young man in the military. In the mid eighties Robert moved to Raleigh as a construction worker by day and painting at night. It has been more than ten years since this Raleigh secret has shown his work in a private gallery. His work is owned by collectors across the US and this show will be one of the rare opportunities to see Roberts landscapes. He describes his work as classical realism. When asked why and what he paints he responds..” I paint the mountains of my home, I don’t know why maybe its because they take me home.. I really do not like public attention I paint because I love it”
